It's back! For the 2nd year in a row, our local Southern California train show was cancelled due to Covid. Thankfully, the show goes on in Victorville, California. The High Desert Modular Model Railroad Club really stole the show. Be sure to watch to the end and see master modeler Benny Diaz's SCRATCH BUILT warships and space shuttle. Stunning!

I have never seen anything like this. Four years in the making, the absolutely unique "Wandering Railroad" made its debut October, 2019. Built inside a food truck type fifth wheeler, this G-scale layout travels intact anywhere there is a road. Here it is for the first time at the Great Train Show in Costa Mesa, California February, 2020; it really stole the show! You saw it here first.

anyone ever used a can-am ryker for autocross?
How long ago did CEC start giving those people who had a birthday the following: * birthday crown? * a special balloon (foil)? * cotton candy?

Hi. There were nine clubs who were compensated to display their layouts. All the rest were small vendors, mostly mom and pop type sellers. I don't recall seeing any corporate vendors.
I just wished you would show more N scale and HO gauges in this video but mostly I saw more O gauge and Standard Gauge and Loinel gauge more then i saw The HO and N scale trains but thinks anyway for the video
Of the nine clubs on display, only one HO and one N showed up this year. Hopefully we'll see more next year. But the others were really great also, I think.

Looks like it handled pretty well, but seems underpowered.
There was a prototype with 120 hp that could reach speeds of 150 mph. That sure would have been fun!
I got this video recommended because I've been trying to found out how a reverse trike performs vs a 4 wheel vehicle on a road course. I have found nothing that compares them. There have been some 4 wheel conversion to some trikes, so one COULD compare them, but have seen nothing. If anyone knows where I could find any data that would be great. One would assume 4 wheels would be better, but that is just an assumption, 4 wheels are heavier than 3, and when braking most is done via the front wheels.

Volume II: technical report. Final report Author Van Valkenburgh, P. G. Published 1981" The Trihawk in this video was evaluated by the same engineering firm (Systems Technology, Inc): Evaluation of Tri-Hawk 3-Wheeler, P.G. Van Valkenburgh, STI Working Paper No. 2142-1. They had this to say as compared to the other vehicles they evaluated: "Generally speaking, the Tri-Hawk out-performed. all 3 wheel or 4 wheel vehicles tested. under the Ref . 1 contract"
@@thepiedcrow Thanks! The abstract says they found a 3 wheeler can handle just as well or even better than a 4 wheeler.
@@murraymadness4674 Yes, a well designed 3 wheeler can handle very well. The Trihawk was designed by legendary race car builders Bob McKee and Dick Kleber, based on F1 geometries. It handles way better than my C7.

I really love this video as a product demo but also a showcase of your layout. I don’t really care about a verbal introduction (of things you can read about a product) or watching someone take it out of the box. Great to see something running. I’ve also been considering whether to ballast around my own Unitrack but seeing how yours looks I’ll probably just do something similar. It looks really good and is probably still flexible if you want to move track or even try to resell it later

I want to go Z for my larger layout but everything seems so hard to get. Very few places that have Z for the US and hardly a used market it seems.

They were not at this show which was in Victorville, CA. I know they usually attend the Orange County, CA show but that one was again cancelled for 2022 due to Covid.

Thank you for noticing it. I am surprised this video hasn't had more interest. We supplied a longer version of this video that also included some high school band footage (the reason the camera operator, a band dad, was there) to the curators of the Reagan library. They weren't sure if they had footage of this either and were grateful for the donation.

You can tell this was after the 1985 merger with ShowBiz Pizza Place, but before 1990 when the Rock-afire Explosion characters, and then the ShowBiz brand itself, were phased out.
